AI & 3D ToF Smart Camera Solution to Reduce Empty Miles

 

In global logistics operations, up to 35% of truck trips are empty (Empty Miles), significantly reducing operational efficiency and generating over 87 million metric tons of CO₂ emissions annually. Traditional GPS tracking and manual inspection methods cannot provide real-time insights into container usage, leading to inefficient transport planning and fleet deployment.

Aetina collaborated with ecosystem partner to combine its DeviceEdge series NVIDIA Jetson-based edge AI platform with partner’s 3D ToF smart sensing solution to deliver a 3D intelligent sensing system that can be installed inside cargo containers.

This system consists of a powerful Aetina's DeviceEdge edge AI platform, leveraging the NVIDIA® Jetson™ system-on-module to enable real-time data processing on-site without relying on the cloud. Supporting NVIDIA Jetson Nano, Xavier NX, and scalable to NVIDIA Orin NX and AGX Orin, it offers deployment flexibility across logistics scenarios. With the integration of a 3D Time-of-Flight (ToF) smart camera and vision algorithms, the system captures high-resolution 3D data of container space in real-time, accurately calculating cargo loading percentage and enhancing logistics efficiency and visualized management.
